Here are the bolsters I mentioned the other day. Another Swat Valley embroidery. I used part of a embroidered section to make a little flange. Invisible zippers. 6″ Dia x 21″ Going to Spokane today; going to be making some pillows!

Vintage Zig Zag Pillow

April 22nd, 2011

Daniel Pontius

You may remember this fabric that I found several months ago–a vintage Joseph Magin dress. Today, I found this raw silk and metallic fabric which I thought perfecto for the back. 15″ x 15″. Invisible zipper and white leather loop.

Custom – F’d up

April 21st, 2011

Daniel Pontius

These were some pillows I did a ways back. The instructions were to make Euro shams 26″ x 26″ that were fucked up and girlie. It was my first departure into the land of lightly guided instructions. But they loved them. Ding Ding!

Pillow Front Applique

April 20th, 2011

Daniel Pontius

The kind of tan fabric was a  bright orange 1970’s linen. The bright pink appliques were red. Bleach.

I had made a pillow out of the tan but never liked it.

so I took it apart and appliqued the old pillow front to the new blue linen front.

And did lots of cut away and top stitching.

This is something that I have been working on in between making bolsters for a client. Have you ever made bolsters? Boy are they fun! Kinda fun, it was fun to figure out how to do it and then do it. When sewing it helps (as with many things) to take your time, break it down into smaller steps. And if you feel your self rushing to finish, stop.

Yes, it’s true. A pair of custom euro shams a custom order for Pat McGann Gallery. Indian hand loomed tussar silk and cotton fabric. Invisible zippers. 26″ x 26.”

Pillow: Nana Joseph

April 18th, 2011

Daniel Pontius

This is a custom pillow that I just completed. It was a hand knit wool sweater that Chrissy’s great grandmother, Nana Joseph, made for her mother when her mother was 19. I love this sort of pillow– and homage to a loved one out of an article of clothing that could no longer be worn. One side of the pillow is what was the front of the sweater; the other side is piece worked. Pink suede loop and an invisible zipper 12″ x 15″.

Phulkari Pillows

April 14th, 2011

Daniel Pontius

These are some phulkari pillows that I did for Pat McGann Gallery. I’ve not finished any of my own designs up lately as I’m in the middle of a large group of custom pillows and a table cloth and some curtains.
