RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM… as seen at Hallworth Design.

Frayed & surged zipper detail

As I remember it, the story is this. There was an old Hindu monk who spent his time sitting under a tree writing in a notebook. This made the other monks nervous. They suspected he was writing about them. The old monk died. The other monks found his notebook to see what he had written about them. All the pages were covered with the word, RAM, over and over again, the old monk had been sitting under the tree writing the name of God.

Fill in your own moral/meaning if you like.

Vintage silk with metallic thread knots.

Little knots.

This pillow was loosely inspired by a particular rug type that I like, the tulu.  A tulu is a Turkish flat weave with tufts of goat hair interwoven to make a pattern–usually quite bright. With this pillow, I wanted to create more of an overall texture rather than a pattern.

Via the V&A;

Re-use is not something new; it is something that was forgotten. The English orphrey (embroidery) pillow above was made from a clerical vestment–they say– in the 16th or 17th century.  The back side is leather.
