19th c. Italian Pillow
A wonderful little piece has come together into something new. This is a newly made pillow created from a textile fragment found in Paris. I love the very fine stitching used to create a cohesive whole from four smaller pieces–depicting a quirky squirrel in a landscape. This is most likely pre-1840. After this time period, people started to pay more attention to matching repeats of fabrics–and one may have not thought to save these small pieces. The coloring and the fine quality of the print point to the Italian make of this textile. You can find it with our other things at Pontius SHOP.
