Carrier Textile Pillow

This is a  wonderful bronze silk embroidery on a teal-indigo cotton background.  It was a fragment from  a baby carrier. I think it’s probably Yao, Guangxi or Yunnan province.

The design is fantastic. It’s  a  closed or unclosed diamond shape with a X in the middle. I left the main panel as I found it sewn together from 3 separate pieces.  The side pieces and the back are an Indian handwoven raw silk. It’s 16 x 16 with an invisible zipper and feather and down insert. One of my favorite pieces from a past  trip to Beijing–which you can now find at Blackman Cruz.
