Italian Chandelier

October 1st, 2007

Daniel Pontius

Italian, 1960’s brass and metal and paint. Note the repetition of the muted colors: Red, yellow, black, blue; red yellow black blue; red yellow black blue. The 12 arms extend out from the central disk into the silhouette reminiscent of a spider’s body or perhaps, if looking from beneath it, a sea anemone. The beauty comes from the proportion and rhythm of the piece which can be seen in nature. The rounded chandelier bulbs help to soften and finish. Pat McGann Gallery, Los Angles
