Mola Textile Pillow

February 24th, 2011

Daniel Pontius

Mola pictured with Indian gypsy quilt that I purchased in Rome…sigh.

Tools of the trade.

Pillow made from a Mola textile. Molas are made by the Kuna, an indigenous people of Panamá of the San Blas Islands.  The Kuna technique has inspired by own needlework. The fabrics are appliqued or reversed appliqued and then cut away to reveal the layers underneath.
