Toile de Jouy Pillows
This is a new group of pillows that I just completed. 2 are 19 x 19 and 1 is 19 x 8. The back is a thick linen-silk of a very pale–simply the softest– pale pink.
The pillows were made from a 19th c. toile panel that I found in Paris. It must have been a curtain panel at one time. There was a wide hem of fine hand stitching on one side that I opened up–see the crease in the smaller oblong pillow. The fabric is in quite good condition for it’s age, with only minor discolorations and fading. If I were in a Trollope novel, I would say that it does not signify. One can still feel the movement and repose of the scene and see the beauty in the unusual shade of periwinkle.
